Welcome to UKCI 2008, the 8th Annual Workshop on Computational Intelligence, this year being hosted by De Montfort University.
The workshop is taking place Wednesday 10th September 2008 to Friday 12th September 2008 inclusive. For information about the scope and background of the workshop please read the introduction page.

Prof. Xin Yao, University of Birmingham
Xin Yao is a professor of computer science in the School of Computer Science at the University of Birmingham, UK and the Director of the Centre of Excellence for Research in Computational Intelligence and Applications (CERCIA).
He is the current editor of IEEE Transactions of Evolutionary Computation, which has an impact factor of 3.77.
He is also a Fellow of IEEE, a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society, and a Distinguished Visiting Professor of University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China.
His research interests include evolutionary computation (evolutionary optimization, evolutionary learning, evolutionary design), neural network ensembles and multiple classifiers (especially on the diversity issue), meta-heuristic algorithms, data mining, computational complexity of evolutionary algorithms, and various real-world applications.

Prof. Martin Anthony, London School of Economics and Political Science
Martin Anthony is a Professor of Mathematics in the Mathematics Department at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
He graduated from the University of Glasgow with a BSc in Mathematics in 1988, before completing a PhD in Mathematics in 1991 (supervised by Norman Biggs) in 1991, having studied at Royal Holloway College and LSE.
He also obtained an MA in Higher and Professional Education from the Institute of Education, University of London, in 2002.
He is the author of a number of acclaimed textbooks in field of Artificial Neural Networks and Computational Theory.
His research interests include the mathematical theory of machine learning, artificial neural networks, evolutionary computation and data mining; Boolean functions; discrete mathematics and its applications.
